In primary school, he dealt with bullying and received a school recommendation that didn\u2019t match his interests or abilities. He was pushed toward a future in welding, even though his passion lay in flying and technology.<\/p>\n<p>But he didn\u2019t give up. His love for aviation and interest in computers came together in a self-built flight simulator, complete with a cockpit so large it had to be hoisted in through his bedroom window.<\/p>\n[\/vc_column_text]<h2 class=\"vcex-heading vcex-heading-plain vcex-module wpex-heading wpex-text-2xl\"><span class=\"vcex-heading-inner wpex-inline-block\">Taking the long way up<\/span><\/h2>[vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]While training as a welder, Arnoud never let go of his dream. After graduation, he worked offshore as a contractor. It wasn\u2019t the sky, but the open sea brought the income he needed to finance his flight training. Step by step, from small aircraft to eventually flying the Boeing 737.<\/p>\n<p>Today, he holds his license and has extensive experience in commercial aviation.
